The Tucson Clay Co-op is now offering outdoor wheel throwing and hand building for adults as well as virtual ZOOM classes in wheel and hand building for adults, teenagers and children.
If you plan to rent a wheel, you can set up an easy home studio. You will need a table, a chair, any surface which absorbs water (a 12 inch by 12 inch piece of plywood, canvas or fabric. as well as a rolling pin, fork and kitchen knife.
We will not resume classes indoors until it is safe.
Until we officially open indoors, our outdoor hours are 8 to 11am or 11 to 2pm Monday through Saturday, as well as 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday-Friday.
FINANCIAL AID: Work-study positions available (trade 3 hrs per week studio work for classes). Positions are limited and must be approved. Call or email for more information Maxine 917 705 3803
Work study credits that you earn now, can be applied to clay, firing, virtual or outdoor classes.
Students must buy their clay from us - no outside clay.
CANCELLATIONS will be refunded before the first day of class. There will be no refunds after the class has started. If a class is filled or you are unable to enroll on line please email tucsonclaycoop@yahoo.com
Because of COVID-19, the 2020 indoor classes were cancelled. We will not post the new indoor classes until it is safe to reopen indoors.
Independent Studies for Glazing Outdoors
$55 monthly. If you buy the clay from us, this includes bisque and glaze firing and opportunity to glaze in our back yard. All our glazes, slips and oxides are now outside as well as our fabulous new stainless steel sink. You are assigned your own shelf.

This hands-on, informative workshop* will provide group and one-on-one instruction to help improve individual throwing techniques. Student requests will be taken at the beginning of the workshop to help guide instruction. Possible topics include: Basic throwing technique, throwing off the hump, throwing with sections, double wall, double thrown, throwing with coils, bottles, pitchers, covered jars, platters, goblets, chip and dip trays, alteration and surface design. Instructor: Dorian Beaulieu has been teaching wheel throwing techniques for over 35 years and currently teaches ceramics at Lake Superior College, Duluth, MN.
*You must have some former wheel experience for this workshop. If you want to fire work you make at the workshop & you are not a Co-op Member or student, the fee is $2 a pound for bisque and $3 a pound for glaze firing. We will supply the clay.

Private individualized lessons will be offered in 2 hour time sessions based on student preference and registration, March 6th through March 13th* $50 per student.
